Sorry, but it puzzles me when people just don’t seem to get the point of a town hall meeting.
Recent CDT letters have called for Rep. Glenn Thompson to hold open town hall meetings in State College. Yes, we did learn that Thompson talked with people in Centre Hall — on a Saturday no less — but Centre Hall isn’t State College.
Town hall meetings are great. When publicized in advance, everyone has a chance to attend and make their voices heard.
The press is free to attend, too. These are simple concepts, good for democracy. It’s the essence of the American way for representatives to meet their constituents in an open exchange.
So, why doesn’t Thompson give State College residents a chance to meet up with their elected representative?
