After a contentious fall in Benner Township due to the the Powell family’s hayride business, they withdrew their conditional use request and ceased operations on that site, finishing the season elsewhere.
Bordering a long-established residential area, busloads of students, many already drunk, arrived nightly, partying into the early hours of the morning.
Hayrides by themselves are great fun, but noise, kegs and safety concerns rallied the neighbors to object. We were thus painted as anti-student/anti-Penn State locals by the owners for not wanting fraternity road shows here many nights a week.
