Letters to the editor | Break the status quo

I know there aren’t many people who like to vote anymore.

This bothers me for two reasons. First, it shows poorly on us as a society that voter participation is so low. Others in more oppressed countries would give anything for fair and free elections that we take for granted. Secondly, low voter turnout means that we don’t take an interest in our local affairs.

I am supporting Amanda McCartney for register of wills. If you don’t know who she is, I encourage you to read up on her history.

I encourage everyone to take 10 minutes out of the day on Nov. 3 to vote in the local election. A single vote could be the deciding factor between the status quo or a fresh start.
