Anyone following recent events in Centre County should, by now, have a great appreciation of the impact that our elected officials and their respective personalities have upon us all. As we prepare to select our next judge, I urge voters to consider all of the necessary aspects of a successful addition to the Centre County Court of Common Pleas and then to cast their votes for Katie Oliver.
While our judges are responsible for the ultimate resolutions of legal matters before them, the judicial process requires that judges interact with many people every day along the way. In addition to those appearing before the court, advocates, attorneys, staff and administrators have active and ongoing roles in the judicial process. All of those in contact with our judicial system expect and deserve the leadership of judges who possess not only experience and a keen interest in the law, but fulfill their obligations fairly, impartially and above all, in a manner that is respectful to all during the course of each matter — day in and day out — throughout their entire term.
Oliver’s depth as a candidate goes well beyond her legal experience, education and community involvement. She possesses the appropriate judicial temperament necessary for the bench. Her election will ensure legally sound determinations derived and delivered in a professional manner respectful of the individuals and lives impacted by her decisions.
