It seems as if there is something wrong in the Register of Wills Office. Our current register, Kim Barton, has rarely been in the office in the past 2 ½ years. In spite of her absence, she has received a taxpayer-paid salary plus benefits.
During this time Christine Millinder has assumed the position as acting register and received two pay increases.
It would seem that if the office has been able to perform all of its responsibilities without Barton, there is certainly room for downsizing, thereby saving taxpayer dollars.
I have seen nothing that demonstrates that the current staff plans any personnel reductions.
At a time when every dollar of government spending counts, we should not be willing to accept more of the same. Isn’t it time for a change?
