Sampsel, a lifelong Centre County resident, graduated from Bellefonte Area High School and studied at Penn State and the Penn State Justice and Safety Institute.
He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for six years, earning multiple achievement and leadership awards. In addition, he worked for nine years at Corning Asahi, earning awards for outstanding contribution and leadership.
He has been a deputy sheriff for 12 years and for the past four years has been a supervising sergeant. He has served as a field training officer and a firearms and active shooter instructor. His experience with the Sheriff’s Office has provided him with invaluable insight into the workings of the office, the court and prison systems and the local police departments. He knows both the dangers and the rewards of being a deputy sheriff.

He is running for sheriff with the encouragement and endorsement of the current sheriff, Denny Nau. As your next sheriff, he will run a professional, ethical, efficient and fiscally responsible office. His priority will be to protect and serve the residents of Centre County while providing the deputies with the equipment, training and support necessary to safely perform their duties.
