GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Cole Brannen doubled twice, scoring two runs as the Greenville Drive defeated the Hickory Crawdads 6-5 on Wednesday.
Devlin Granberg tripled and doubled with a run and an RBI for Greenville.
Greenville started the scoring in the first inning. After leading off the inning with a double, Brannen advanced to third on a double by Granberg and then scored on a double by Granberg.
After Greenville added two runs, the Crawdads cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Sherten Apostel hit a two-run home run.
The Drive later added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. In the fourth, Jordan Wren hit an RBI single, while Kervin Suarez hit an RBI double in the fifth.
Hickory saw its comeback attempt come up short after Frainyer Chavez drew a bases-loaded walk and Jonathan Ornelas hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to cut the Greenville lead to 6-5.
Yorvin Pantoja (2-2) got the win in relief while Hickory starter Ronny Henriquez (0-2) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.
Despite the loss, Hickory is 4-1 against Greenville this season.
