Grim leads Lehigh to key win

Former State College pitcher Andrew Grim stepped up when the Lehigh baseball team needed him most Sunday.

The Mountain Hawks gained a split with Navy thanks to Grim’s pitching effort. He worked five innings of shutout relief, allowed four hits and struck out three as Lehigh won 6-5 after dropping the first game of a doubleheader 4-2.

“Grim was outstanding for us today,’’ Lehigh coach Sean Leary said on Lehigh’s Web site. “We needed someone to step up for us in that second game and he was able to get us the win....Grim really turned the momentum of that game.’’

Grim has a 2.29 ERA for the year and a 2-1 record with one save. In 192⁄3 innings he has allowed 16 hits, five runs (all earned), walked nine and struck out 15.

Lehigh is 14-18.

Ryan MacNamara (Bald Eagle Area, Allegany Community College) is 5-0 with a 2.18 ERA. In 33 innings, he has allowed 10 runs (eight earned), 26 hits, struck out a team-high 30 and walked 10. At the plate, he is hitting .414 with 12 hits, a triple and two RBIs.

Brad Kling (Bald Eagle Area, Allegany CC) is hitting .273 with three hits including a double.

A.J. Czap (Philipsburg-Osceola, Allegany CC) is tied for tops on the team in RBIs with 16. He is hitting .359 and has 23 hits, six doubles, a triple and a homer and four stolen bases.

Erik Kempton (State College, Allegany CC) is 1-0 with two saves. He has allowed 10 runs (nine earned) in 131⁄3 innings while giving up 11 hits, striking out eight and walking nine. He is hitting .244 with 10 hits, two doubles and five RBIs. Allegany is 16-7.

Cody Young (Bellefonte, Allegany CC) has a .364 batting average with 28 hits, two doubles, a triple, two homers and eight RBIs.

Matt Moberg (State College, Siena) is 2-3 with a 7.48 ERA. In 212⁄3 innings, he has given up 34 hits and 25 runs (18 earned) while walking 10 and striking out eight. Siena is 6-16.
