SHIPPENSBURG — Loyalsock pitcher Porshia Wilson homered in the fourth inning and scored the winning run on a passed ball as the Lancers defeated Bald Eagle Area 3-2 in the PIAA Class AA softball championship game today.
The Lancers capped off a 28-0 season with the victory, while the Lady Eagles (22-4) finished as the runner-up for the second time in five seasons. BEA won the Class AA title in 2005.
Wilson’s home run off of BEA’s Megan Shaw in the fourth gave Loyalsock a 2-0 lead, while the Lady Eagles rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game.
BEA had an opportunity for the win in the seventh with runners on second and third with one out, but Wilson worked out of the jam.

In the eighth, Shaw walked Wilson to open the inning, as Wilson advanced to third on a sacrifice and fielder’s choice. With two outs, Wilson scored on a passed ball to set the final.
BEA outhit Loyalsock 11-3 in the game.
The Loyalsock softball team was the school’s second to win a PIAA title on the day, as the Lancers’ baseball squad won the Class AA title with an 8-3 win over Burrell today in Altoona.
