Philipsburg bashed three home runs in a six-run fourth inning as the Spike Island Pirates knocked off Lemont 12-9 Monday in a rematch of last year’s championship.
A.J. Robinson’s three-run double highlighed a four-run fourth that gave Philipsburg (13-0) a 5-3 lead, then the Pirates broke out their power stroke an inning later.
Ryan Mostyn and John Shaffer belted two-run homers and Brandon Myers got a solo shot when the ball bounced off a Lemont outfielder’s head and over the fence.
Lemont rallied for five runs in the seventh. Kyle Wright plated two with a single before Shane Regel bashed a three-run homer.
