Held to four runs and 10 hits for the day, Bellefonte dropped a pair of games to open play in the Pennsylvania Wood Bat Open on Friday at Bellefonte Area High School, falling to Hatfield 4-2 and 6-2 to Albion.
Hatfield’s Dan Carney struck out four and allowed four hits over five innings for the win, with his brother Pat delivering a two-run single during a three-run first inning to put the team in the lead for good.
Mike Mann gave up nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts in the complete-game loss. Seth Weaver had two singles and Zach Williams doubled for the Bandits.
In the second game, Bellefonte committed six errors, while Williams gave up seven walks and six hits in the complete-game loss. Albion’s Josh Ponsell struck out six with six hits and one walk in the victory.

Taylor Smith doubled and scored on a Dylan Moerschbacher single in the first, and Noah Perryman singled and scored on an Anthony Montressor double to account for the Bellefonte runs.
The tournament will continue through Sunday.
