County League baseball: Howard eliminates Lewistown

The Howard Hawks finished off its series upset and andvanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 win over Lewistown on Sunday in the Centre County Baseball League playoffs.

The seventh-seeded Hawks will meet top-seeded and undefeated Philipsburg in the semifinals beginning Thursday. The other semifinal series will feature Lemont and either Clarence or Spring Mills. The Mounties and Braves play Game 5 of their series Tuesday in Clarence.

Brian Pelka pitched Howard to the win, scattering five hits with one walk and three strikeouts in the complete game.

Scott Zuback was 4-for-4 with a double and triple while Bones Fisher figured in all three Hawk runs. Fisher doubled and scored on a Zuback single in the second inning, walked and scored on a Luke Gardner single in the fourth, and singled home Tyler Womer in the fifth.

Kody Heene took the loss and Ryan Keefer had two hit for the Predators, who were the No. 2 seed.
