VFW Area 5 Teener League 15-16 Tournament: Bellefonte beats Bald Eagle Area

Bellefonte rallied past Bald Eagle Area 8-5 Wednesday to move closer to wrapping up the VFW Area 5 Teener League Tournament for 15-16 year-olds.

Bellefonte (8-1) holds a half-game lead on Penns Valley (7-1) with one day left in the round-robin tournament. Bellefonte closes against State College, while Penns Valley and Bald Eagle Area will complete a suspended game before their regularly-scheduled contest Friday.

Bald Eagle Area (2-6) led 5-3 before Bellefonte took control with a five-run fourth inning, with Adam Kuhn hitting a two-run single and Ian Marshall adding a two-run double. Bald Eagle Area loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh when winning pitcher Darren Heeman, pitching three innings in relief of Taylor Butts, struck out Caleb Bell to preserve the win.

Jon Glunt added a single and double for Bellefonte, while Jason Jones homered and doubled for BEA, Dylan Burns had a double, and Travis Reese and Alex Struble each had a pair of hits.

Penns Valley beat Mount Union 11-8 and Huntingdon dropped State College 10-7 in Wednesday’s other games.
