The Bald Eagle Area Teener League All-Star baseball team won its opening game in the 13-14 year-old VFW State Tournament on Friday, and drove a long way to face a nearby opponent.
Bald Eagle Area used an 11-run second inning to knock off Philipsurg-Osceola 16-6 in the opening game.
BEA outhit P-O 17-6 and saw a dozen different players reach base. All but one starter had at least one hit. The team had nine hits in the second inning, highlighted by two singles from Brian Egan, a double from Tanner Kresovich and a triple for Hunter Taylor. Taylor had two triples and a single while Kresovich also had a single and double, and was walked on his chance for the home run to complete the cycle.
Ty Walker pitched three innings for the win, while Nick Conklin had a single and double for Philipsburg-Osceola.
