Campus Corner: State College grad swimming strong for Delaware

Alex Hillsley was one of three Delaware double-winners in the Blue Hens’ 177-119 men’s swimming victory over Towson over the weekend.

The State College graduate won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.41 seconds and also swam on the winning 400 freestyle relay that turned in a time of 3:07.47.

Delaware is now idle until the Colonial Athletic Association championships Feb. 26-March 1.

Brian Scholly (State College, Juniata) has a 12.9 scoring average to go with a 5.0 rebound average, a 1.6 assist average, 0.2 steals and 0.3 blocked shots per game. Juniata is 12-5.

Kate McDonald (State College, Juniata) averages 17.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She also has 61 assists, 67 steals and 18 blocks. The Eagles are 9-8.

Dennis Fisher (Bald Eagle Area, Juniata) averages 1.7 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 blocks and 0.1 steals per game.

Jena Matter (Bellefonte, Mansfield) continues to lead the team in scoring with a 14.2 points-per-game average. She also averages 6.9 rebounds per game and has 29 assists, 29 steals and two blocks. Mansfield is 0-18.

Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) averages 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. She has 21 assists and 14 steals. Pitt Greensburg is 8-9.

Taylor Allison (State College, St. Francis) has a 1.3 scoring average. She also has four rebounds, two assists and a steal. St. Francis is 6-12.

Jenna Altomare (State College, Kutztown) has a 5.9 scoring average to go with a 1.4 rebounding average, 13 assists and 13 steals. Kutztown is 6-12.

Kyle Kanaskie (State College, Truman State) is averaging 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He has 40 assists and 12 steals. Truman State is 14-3.

Kaitlyn Miller (BEA, PSU-Fayette) averages 11.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. She also averages 0.7 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.7 blocks. Fayette is 9-7.

Mary Pillot (BEA, PSU-DuBois) had eight points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 92-54 loss to Penn College. DuBois is 4-11.

Maddie Bastress (Penns Valley, Washington & Jefferson) has a 0.9 scoring average, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. W&J is 12-5.

Wrestling

Mitchell Port (Bellefonte, Edinboro) raised his record to 20-0 on the season with a pin of Bloomsburg’s Elliot Zackowski in 3:54. Port, ranked No. 1 at 141 pounds, helped the Scots to a 29-10 win that gave them a perfect 5-0 record in the EWL, clinching the league title. Edinboro is 7-3 overall.

Leo Wortman (Bellefonte, Stevens Institute of Technology) went 2-0 over the weekend in a tri-meet. At 157 pounds, Wortman had a pin and received a forfeit. He now has a 10-7 record on season.
