Penn State lacrosse: Nittany Lions’ road streak ends in Denver

The Penn State men’s lacrosse team could not hold off No. 9 Denver with a 15-11 loss on Monday night.

The No. 5 Nittany Lions (3-2), facing their fourth straight ranked opponent, got three goals and three assists from Shane Sturgis as they saw their 14-game road win streak come to an end. Penn State also got two goals from Kyle Baier, Pat Manley and Tom LaCrosse, and one each from Brian Prestreau and Kyle VanThof. Austin Kaut made eight saves.

Erik Adamson’s Four goals and Tyler Pace’s three goals led the Pioneers (4-2), who rallied from a 7-4 second-quarter deficit. Two goals each came from Jack Bobzien and Wesley Berg, and one apiece from Sean Cannizzaro, Mike Riis, Jeremy Noble and Zach Miller.

Penn State, which had not lost a road game since April 2011, hosts Massachusetts on Saturday.
