Centre County League baseball: Koleno’s no-hitter propels Clarence over Pleasant Gap in opener

Justin Koleno opened the Centre County Baseball League season with a gem.

Koleno tossed a no-hitter as Clarence topped Pleasant Gap 1-0 on Sunday.

Koleno, a former Bald Eagle Area High School standout, struck out six and walked five in the triumph as he outdueled three Pleasant Gap pitchers.

The Mounties got the only run they would need in the first inning. With one out, Ryan MacNamara walked and then stole second base. Brian Kochik followed with an opposite-field double to right to plate MacNamara.

Dillon Schall had two singles for Clarence. Scott Rachau, Tyler Lalli and Steve Alterio combined for a four-hitter for the Peppers.

Hawks 4, Pirates 1

Kyle Womer smacked a three-run home run to highlight a four-run second inning as Howard topped Philipsurg on Sunday.

Tyler Sunday tossed a six-hitter for the Hawks. Sunday walked one and struck out six.

Evan Gettig, Tyler Womer and Dylan Womer had two hits each for Howard. Mike Marcinko had two hits, including a triple, and scored the lone run for Philipsburg.

Ducks 7, Braves 3

Logan Madill had four hits, including two home runs, as Lemont stopped Spring Mills on Sunday.

Madill belted a solo homer in a two-run fourth that gave the Ducks a 4-3 lead. He added a two-run shot in the seventh.

Zack Moerschbacher tossed a five-hitter for Lemont. Cody Young had two hits, including a double, for the Braves.
