Local baseball: State College pitcher Dailey fires no-hitter in American Legion action

Pitcher Oliver Dailey threw a no-hitter, coming within an error and a walk from a perfect game, in State College’s 7-0 American Legion victory over Beech Creek on Thursday.

Dailey struck out seven in the game, while State College opened up a 6-0 lead in the third inning behind a pair of two-run hits from Alex Shisler and Kenny Craig.

State College (3-5) will take part in the Joe Menna Tournament this weekend in Bellefonte.

Bellefonte overcomes Philipsburg

A five-run third inning was all Bellefonte needed to stay ahead of Philipsburg in a 6-2 American Legion win on Thursday.

Dan Roan picked up the win for Bellefonte and helped his own effort at the plate. Roan connected for three hits wtih two singles and a double. Noah Perryman added a double for Bellefonte which added a run in the top of the sixth.

Bellefonte will host the Wooden Bat Tournament starting Friday.
