Ex-State College standout Rose named coach at East Carolina

Former State College standout Chris Rose has been named to the coaching staff for the East Carolina women’s volleyball program.

Rose, the son of Hall of Fame Penn State coach Russ Rose and former Nittany Lion All-American Lori (Barberich) Rose, will be an assistant coach for the Pirates. The Penn State graduate had been working as a volunteer assistant for the University at Buffalo women’s program. He served as a student manager for the Nittany Lions from 2012-14, including the 2013-14 national championship seasons.

Rose, who was a Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-State selection, helped State College win the 2010 PIAA Class AAA title. He will work on the staff for Julie Torbett, a former Nittany Lion player.
