Campus Corner: Lumadue earns All-American status for Penn State-DuBois wrestling

Philipsburg-Osceola graduate Dennis “Bub” Lumadue earned All-American honors at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) national tournament in Allen, Texas over the weekend.

Lumadue, wrestling at 184 pounds for Penn State-DuBois, placed eighth to earn the honors.

After winning his first bout of the tournament he lost, then ran off five straight wins, four by fall, in the consolations before losing his final two bouts.

Penn State-DuBois had four wrestlers earn All-American honors in the tournament. Jay Prentice, another P-O graduate, failed to place at 174.

Wrestling

Scott Bosak (State College, Belmont Abbey) became the program’s second All-America selection by placing fifth at 149 pounds in the NCAA Division II championships in St. Louis. Bosak went 3-2 and defeated Mercyhurst’s Jeremy Landowski 8-3 in the fifth-place match. He finished the season 24-3.

Baseball

Justin Taylor (Bald Eagle Area, California, Pa.) is 0-1 with a 5.11 ERA. In 12 1/3 innings, he has allowed 15 hits and nine runs, seven earned, walked none and struck out 17. Cal is 3-8.

Drew Bryan (P-O, VMI) is hitting .333 in limited action. VMI is 4-6.

Austin Mock (State College, Indiana, Pa.) has a .258 average with five runs scored, eight hits, three doubles and five RBIs. IUP is 5-5.

Saige Jenco (State College, Virginia Tech) has a .299 average with nine runs scored, 23 hits, five doubles, a homer and three RBIs. He is also 5-or-5 in stolen base attempts. The Hokies are 10-9.

Trey Nicosia (State College, Wagner) is hitting .250 with four runs scored, nine hits, two doubles and an RBI. Wagner is 2-8-1.

Parker Watson (P-O, Lock Haven) is 0-1 with a 12.60 ERA. In 5 2/3 innings, he has given up 11 hits, eight runs, all earned, walked one and struck out seven. Lock Haven is 3-5.

Mike Marcinko (P-O, Shippensburg) is hitting .375 with 14 runs, 18 hits, two doubles, five homers and nine RBIs. Shippensburg is 3-8.

Mark Curtis (P-O, Shippensburg) is 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA. In 16 innings, he has given up 19 hits and 20 runs, 16 earned, while walking 13 and striking out 19.

Calvin Sichler (State College, Shippensburg) is hitting .118 in limited action. He has scored a run and has two hits, one a double.

Caleb Peppereday (P-O, Juniata) has allowed 10 hits and six runs, all earned, walked three and struck out four in 5 2/3 innings. He is 1-0 with a 9.53 ERA. Juniata is 4-5.

Bryce Greene (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .222 with a run scored, two hits and a stolen base.

Anthony Montresor (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) is hitless in five at-bats.

Jared Dailey (State College, PSU-Altoona) is 0-0 with a 14.19 ERA. In seven innings, he has given up 16 hits and 11 runs, all earned, walked four and struck out four. Altoona is 5-6.

Softball

Lily Glunt (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .393 with eight runs, 11 hits, three doubles, a triple and eight RBIs. Altoona is 8-5.

Kelly Chambers (BEA, PSU-Altoona) leads the team in hitting with a .474 average. She has 11 runs, 18 hits, five doubles, three homers and a team-high 16 RBIs.

Raychel DeArmitt (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .235 with two runs scored, four hits, two of them doubles. In the circle she is 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA. In 46.0 innings she has allowed 50 hits and 23 runs, 15 earned, while walking seven and striking out 23.

Clarissa Keller (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .375 with eight runs, 12 hits, three doubles and three RBIs.

Kate Burge (P-O, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .357 with two runs scored and five hits including two doubles and a triple. She has two RBIs. In the pitching circle she is 2-3 with a 4.20 ERA. In 26.2 innings she has yielded 35 hits and 29 runs, 16 earned while walking 13and striking out 13.

Allie Simpson (BEA, PSU-Altoona) has a .231 average wit three runs score, three hits and three RBIs.

Ashley Struble (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) has a .321 average with five runs scored, nine hits, a double and four RBIs. She is also 1-0 with a 10.00 ERA as a pitcher, working seven innings and allowing 13 hits and 13 runs, 10 earned, while walking seven and striking out five.

Jessica McClenahan (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) is hitless in four at-bats and has scored one run.

Chelsey Poorman (BEA, Lycoming) is hitting.182 with a run scored and two hits. Lycoming is 7-1.

Shawna Risely (BEA, Lycoming) is 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and three RBIs.

Tess Deardorff (Penns Valley, Lebanon Valley) is hitting .333 with three runs, eight hits and an RBI. Lebanon Valley is 1-7

Chelsea Rex (P-O, St. Francis) is hitting .250 with three runs scored, four hits, a double and two RBIs. In 3 2/3 innings in the circle, she is 0-0 with a 2.46 ERA. She has allowed three hits and one run, earned, while walking two and striking out eight.

Taylor Parsons (BEA, St. Francis) now shares the school record for doubles with 37 and will try to break it Tuesday against Maryland. She is hitting .319 with eight runs, 15 hits, five doubles, two triples and nine RBIs. St. Francis is 11-4.

Hannah Cooper (Bellefonte, Central Connecticut State) is hitting .227 with a run and five hits, two doubles and three RBIs. Central Connecticut State is 9-2

Vanessa Cooper (Bellefonte, UMass-Lowell) has a .194 average with three runs scored, seven hits, a double, two homers and eight RBIs. Lowell is 9-11.

Carly Gonder (P-O, Lock Haven) has a single and a run scored in three at-bats. Lock Haven is 5-9.

Allie Baney (State College, Juniata) is hitless in one at-bat. Juniata is 3-5.

Basketball

Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) has a 3.5 scoring average with 28 rebounds, 16 assists, three blocks and seven steals. Stony Brook is 23-11 and will meet Mercer in the first round of the CBI on Wednesday.

Swimming

Marie Gingher (State College, Gettysburg) was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team. Each school nominates an athlete from each of its winter sports.

Gymnastics

Kyra Levi (State College, Penn) scored a career-high 9.800 in the floor exercise in a tri-meet with Cornell and West Virginia at West Virginia. Penn beat Cornell and lost to WVU.
