Campus Corner: Parsons sets doubles mark at St. Francis

Former Bald Eagle Area standout Taylor Parsons set a career doubles record for the St. Francis softball program. Parsons has 41 doubles. This season she is hitting .333, second on the team, and has 13 runs, 24 hits, nine doubles, four triples and 12 RBIs.

Taylor Parsons is the new career doubles leader for the St. Francis softball program.

Parsons, a redshirt senior from Bald Eagle Area, broke the record in the first game of a doubleheader against Maryland last week, helping the Red Flash to a sweep of the Terrapins.

Parsons hit three more doubles during the week and now has 41 for her career. She is hitting .333, second on the team, and has 13 runs, 24 hits, nine doubles, four triples and 12 RBIs.

St. Francis is now 17-5. It had its 10-game winning streak snapped with a 6-1 loss to Kent State in the Liberty Classic in Lynchburg, Va., on Sunday.

Softball

Lily Glunt (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .412 with eight runs scored, 14 hits, three doubles, a triple and 10 RBIs.

Kelly Chambers (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .413 with 12 runs scored, 19 hits, five doubles, four homers and 17 RBIs.

Raychel DeArmitt (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) is 5-2 with a 2.83 ERA. In 541/3 innings, she has allowed 60 hits and 32 runs, 22 earned, while walking 13 and striking out 28. At the plate she is hitting .190 with two runs scored, four hits and two doubles. Altoona is 8-7.

Clarissa Keller (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) has a .342 average with 11 runs scored, 13 hits, three doubles and four RBIs.

Allison Simpson (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .278 with four runs, five hits and five RBIs.

Ashley Struble (Penns Valley, PSU- Altoona) is hitting .300 with five runs scored, nine hits, a double and four RBIs.

Kate Burge (P-O, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .313 with two runs, five hits, a double, a triple and two RBIs. In the circle, she is 2-4 with a 5.14 ERA. In 311/3 innings, she has given up 48 hits and 38 runs, 23 of them earned, while walking 16 and sriking out 16.

Jess McClenahan (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) is 0-for-4 with a run scored.

Chelsey Poorman (BEA, Lycoming) is hitting .182 with one run and two hits.

Shawna Risely (BEA, Lycoming) is 2-for-4 with two runs, a double and three RBIs. Lycoming is 7-2.

Tessa Deardorff (Penns Valley, Lebanon Valley) is hitting .333 with three runs scored, eight hits and an RBI. She is 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts. Lebanon Valley is 1-7.

Chelsea Rex (P-O, St. Francis) has a 2.16 ERA and one save. In 81/3 innings, she has given up six hits and two runs, both earned, while walking three and striking out 10. At the plate, she is hitting .250 with five runs scored, six hits, a homer and three RBIs. She hit a solo homer in a 4-1 win over Rider last week.

Hannah Cooper (Bellefonte, Central Connecticut State) is hitting .227 with a run scored, five hits, two doubles and three RBIs. Central Connecticut State is 11-5.

Vanessa Cooper (Bellefonte, UMass-Lowell) has a .184 average with three runs, seven hits, a double, two homers and eight RBIs. UMass-Lowell is 9-13.

Christina Tressler (Bellefonte, Clarion) is third on the team with a .353 average. She has 12 hits, four doubles, six RBIs and has scored three times for the Golden Eagles 2-8.

Allie Baney (State College, Juniata) is 0-for-8. Juniata is 3-7.

Baseball

Justin Taylor (BEA, California, Pa.) is 0-1 with a 9.04 ERA. In 152/3 innings, he has allowed 27 hits and 16 runs, 14 earned, while walking one and striking out 20. Cal is 7-10.

Drew Bryan (Philipsburg-Osceola, VMI) is hitting .286 with two hits, one a double, and one RBI. VMI is 5-10.

Austin Mock (State College, Indiana, Pa.) is hitting .289 with nine runs, 13 hits, five doubles, a homer and 12 RBIs. IUP is 7-7.

Saige Jenco (State College, Virginia Tech) has a .303 average with 14 runs scored, 30 hits, seven doubles, a triple, a homer and five RBIs. He is also 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. The Hokies are 12-12.

Bryce Greene (BEA, PSU-Altoona) is hitting .222 with a run scored, two hits and a stolen base. Altoona is 5-9.

Anthony Montresor (Penns Valley, PSU-Altoona) is 0-for-5 to date.

Brandon Quay (Bellefonte, Alderson-Broaddus) is hitting .244 with eight runs scored, 10 hits, three doubles and five RBIs. The Battlers are 8-7.

Parker Watson (P-O, Lock Haven) has an 0-1 record and a 12.72 ERA. In 52/3 innings, he has allowed 11 hits and eight runs, all earned, while walking one and striking out seven. Lock Haven is 4-6.

Mike Marcinko (P-O, Shippensburg) is hitting .397, which is second on the team. He has scored 24 runs and has 29 hits, four doubles, six homers and 15 RBIs. Shippensburg is 6-12.

Mark Curtis (P-O, Shippensburg) is 2-2 with a 7.83 ERA. In 23 innings he has allowed 29 hits and 24 runs, 20 of them earned, while walking 15 and striking out 25.

Calvin Sichler (State College, Shippensburg) is hitting .100 with three runs scored and two hits, one a double.

Caleb Pepperday (P-O, Juniata) is 1-0 with a 9.53 ERA. In 52/3 innings, he has given up 10 hits and six runs, all earned, while walking three and striking out four. Juniata is 4-5.

Track & Field

Chloe Schmidt (State College, Illinois) placed seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:11.55 in the Baldy Castillo Invitational at Arizona State. She also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay team that finished seventh.

Gymnastics

Rose Wortman (Bellefonte, West Chester) scored a 9.3 in the vault in the ECAC Division II meet over the weekend as West Chester placed third.

Kyra Levi (State College, Penn) turned in a 9.60 in the floor exercise in the ECAC meet in which Penn placed fourth.

Basketball

Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) finished the season with a 3.4 points-per-game scoring average, 29 rebounds, 16 assists, three steals and seven blocks. Stony Brook lost to Mercer 72-70 on a last-second shot in the CBI tournament. Stony Brook, which also lost on a last-second shot in the America East Conference championship, finished with a 23-12 record.
