Tuesday’s snow whites out much of local sports schedule

Much like the rest of the spring season so far, Mother Nature was not kind to the local sports schedule Tuesday.

Nearly all of Tuesday’s schedule for Centre County teams was wiped out by wet snow, including all high school tennis, baseball games, Penn State’s baseball game against Binghamton, State College softball at Central Dauphin and the high school track and field schedule.

Penns Valley, Huntingdon, Mount Union and Philipsburg-Osceola attempted to hold a meet in Philipsburg and completed two events for the boys and girls before the cold and slippery conditions halted the meet. A date has not been set for the meet to resume.

Makeup dates have been set for some events, although not for the Nittany Lion baseball game. Penn State hosts Kent State on Wednesday.
