Allison Simpson played a key role in Penn State-Altoona’s doubleheader sweep of Pitt-Bradford over the weekend.
The sophomore from Bald Eagle Area was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run scored in a 7-3 win in the first game. In the second game, she was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in a 6-0 win. Former Philipsburg-Osceola pitcher Kate Burge earned the win in the first game while ex-Bellefonte standout Raychel DeArmitt picked up the win in the second.
The wins pushed the Lions’ record in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference to 8-2.
For the season Simpson is hitting .378 (fifth on the team) and has scored five runs. She has 14 hits, two doubles and 12 RBIs.

Corey King (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) ran the 100-meter dash in 11.92 seconds and a 22.97 to finish 42nd in the 200 in the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Molly Love (State College, UNC-Wilmington) had a pole vault of 10-11 3/4 to place ninth at the Bill Carson Invitation at East Carolina.
Nora Adams (State College, Bucknell) was 15th in the 3,000 in 10:58.67 in the Bison Classic.
Emma Cousins (State College, Bucknell) was eighth in the unseeded 1,500 in 4:48.89.
Matt Fuller (Penns Valley, Edinboro) ran a 35:24.89 in the 10,000 at the Bison Classic.
Curtis Markle (BEA, Penn State) won the Paralympic wheel chair shot put with a throw of 20-07 and the discus with a throw of 64-02 at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Emma Federinko (Penns Valley, Misericordia) finished 15th in the 5,000 in 21:19.05 at the Messiah Invitational.
