American Legion baseball: Big inning powers Bellefonte past Philipsburg

Bellefonte used an eight-run fifth inning to earn a 14-6 victory over Philipsburg in American Legion action Wednesday.

The Bandits trailed 6-2 going into the bottom of the fifth, when Trent Fortney sparked a comeback with a three-run home run. A double steal, with Ryan McElwee scoring, tied it, and Colton Treaster drove in the go-ahead run with a double.

Bellefonte finished with 19 hits.

Fortney, McElwee and Treaster each had three hits to lead the Bandits.

Jeremy Warefield earned the win.
