A seven-run third-inning and a strong pitching performance from Brian Pelka helped the Howard Hawks hand the Philipsburg Pirates their second loss of the season Saturday.
Pelka struck out four and gave up four hits in the victory.
The Hawks took advantage of five Pirate errors, including four in the third inning, to take control.
Tyler Womer was 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Hawks (6-6).
Parker Watson struck out five in the loss and had two of his team’s five hits on offense for Philipsburg (9-2), which dropped to a half-game lead over Clarence atop the County League standings.
