Philipsburg swept a doubleheader against Spring Mills in Centre County Baseball League action Sunday, clinching a first-round bye in the playoffs.
The Pirates (13-3) beat the Braves 3-1 in the first game and 7-2 in the second game. Philipsburg will lock up the league’s top spot going into the playoffs with one more win or a Clarence loss. Clarence is in second place at 10-5.
The playoffs start July 19.
In the first game Sunday, Drew Bryan had three hits and an RBI to lead Philipsburg. Parker Watson finished with a single and a double.

Watson then had a triple and a single in the Pirates’ second win. Philipsburg scored six runs on three Spring Mills errors in the fifth inning.
A.J. Robinson had a single and a double, and Logan Williamson had two singles for the Pirates. Matt Curtis doubled and earned the win.
