Centre County League baseball: Hicks hands Lemont extra innings win over Pleasant Gap in playoff opener

Clint Hicks’ walk-off single brought in the winning run as Lemont drew first blood in the Centre County Baseball League playoffs on Sunday.

Two walks and a single loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th inning before Hicks delivered his game-winner to left field to take the first game in the best-of-three first-round series. The teams meet again on Tuesday at Bellefonte’s Governor’s Park.

After staking the Peppers to three first-inning runs, the Ducks rallied with an RBI double for Kerry Meyers and an RBI single for Caleb Walls in the third and an RBI single for Harrison Walls in the fourth to score Hicks, who had tripled.

The Ducks took the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but an RBI hit for Devin Alterio tied it in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.

Reliever Kyler Mellott earned the win.
