The stage is officially set for the Centre County Baseball League championship after Howard’s 3-2 win over Clarence on Sunday.
Howard won its third game out of the five-game series over the Mounties despite getting only five hits off Clarence pitcher Cody Klinger.
Klinger hit Evan Gettig with a pitch in the third inning, and Gettig’s brother, Brandon, hit a sacrifice fly to advance Evan. Travis Price’s RBI single scored Evan Gettig for Howard’s first run of the game.
Brandon Gettig’s RBI single scored Cole Long in the fifth inning, and Klinger walked in a second run in the frame.
Howard’s Tyler Sunday earned the win after giving up two runs in the fifth off of two hits — both RBI singles.
Philipsburg will host Howard on Tuesday at 6 p.m. after winning their five-game series against Pleasant Gap, 3-1.
