Campus Corner: Philipsburg-Osceola’s Walker plays in marathon football game

Philipsburg-Osceola graduate Kurt Walker played a part in a historic Shippensburg University football victory Saturday, when the Raiders topped East Stroudsburg 67-65 in five overtimes. It was the longest game in Shippensburg history.

Walker, a co-captain, had a solo tackle and two assists in the game. For the season the senior has 10 tackles, five of them solo, 3 1/2 tackles for loss for minus-16 yards, 2 1/2 sacks for minus-13 yards, one pass breakup, one pass defended and one quarterback hurry.

State College’s John Weakland is also a member of the Shippensburg team.

With the win over East Stroudsburg, the Raiders are now 3-2.


Kyle Lanich (P-O, Juniata) saw playing time on the offensive line in a 41-5 loss to Johns Hopkins. Juniata is 1-4.

Austin Peck (State College, Juniata) played on the offensive line against Johns Hopkins.

Alex Boumerhi (P-O, Lock Haven) had a 20-yard field goal in a 33-9 loss to West Chester. He leads the team in scoring with 19 points on four field goals and seven PAT kicks.

Cameron Tobias (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) saw playing time against West Chester. His pass for a two-point conversion was incomplete. Lock Haven is now 0-5.

Jon Cox (State College, Franklin & Marshall) has two solo tackles and two assists from his defensive tackle position. F&M lost to Dickinson 13-7 Saturday to fall to 4-1.

Taylor Collison (Penns Valley, F&M) has five carries for 13 yards for the Diplomats.

Aaron Mason (P-O, Thiel) has eight solo tackles, one interception that he returned for 17 yards and one pass defended. Thiel is 1-4.

David Gordeuk (State College, Navy) has been starting on special teams at Navy and had a tackle in Saturday’s win over Air Force. For he year he has two solo tackles and two assists. The Middies are 4-0.

Cole Long (Bald Eagle Area, Waynesburg) Played special teams in Waynesburg's 35-31 win over Grove City and had one tackle. The Yellow Jackets are 2-3.


Reese Fisher (State College, Juniata) has one assist in 10 games. Juniata is 2-7-1.

Devin Kos (Bellefonte, Juniata) has two goals and two assists in 10 games. Juniata is 5-4-1.

Taylor Golemboski (P-O, Juniata) has played in six games.

Kristin Buchanan (Bellefonte, IUP) has taken one shot in nine games. IUP is 6-4-1.

Mac Schailey (State College, Widener) has taken seven shots in nine games. Widener is 4-6-1.

Jordyn Powell (P-O, Misericordia) has one assist in 10 games. Misericordia is 9-2.


Randi Leath (State College, DePaul) has 92 kills, 16 aces, 35 blocks, 41 digs and eight assists for the Blue Demons (12-5, 1-4 Big East).

Taylor Leath (State College, North Carolina) has 53 kills, 42 digs, 17 blocks and an ace for the Tar Heels (5-7, 3-1 ACC).

Megan Flick (BEA, Lock Haven) has 192 kills, 24 assists, eight aces, 179 digs and 26 blocks. Lock Haven is 10-7.

Suzanne Horner (State College, Iowa State) has two kills, 60 assists, four aces and 33 digs. The Lady Cyclones are 9-5.

Emma Weakland (State College, Winthrop) has 98 kills, an assist, 16 digs and 26 blocks. Winthrop is 6-11.

Sara Torres (BEA, PSU-Altoona) has a kill, an ace, 11 digs and a block. PSU-Altoona is 8-9.

Christine Irwin (State College, Juniata) has two kills, an ace, 12 digs and a block. Juniata is 18-1. Clarion topped the Lady Eagles in five sets last Tuesday.

Tara Neideigh (State College, Juniata) has two assists, five aces and 91 digs.

Janae Moran (State College, Elizabethtown) has 147 kills, 16 assists, 25 aces, 76 digs and 15 blocks. Elizabethtown is 12-8.

Kayla Bracken (Penns Valley, Delaware Valley) has 71 kills, three assists, 15 aces, 84 digs and two blocks. Delaware Valley is 1-10.

Field hockey

Brenna Boehman (State College, Haverford) has scored three goals. Haverford is 7-2.

Kayla Klaus (State College, Slippery Rock) has played in six games and has no stats. Slippery Rock is 4-7.

Summer Carson (State College, Dowling) has two goals. Dowling is 2-7.

Lauren Bonness (State College, Michigan State) has scored two goals and has two assists for the Spartans, who are 4-7.

Aiko Dzikowski (State College, Smith) has now played in five games. Smith is 4-5.

Paige Meily (State College, Penn) has played in six games with no stats for the Quakers (7-1).

Brittany Meier (State College, Juniata) has two goals and four assists for eight points. Juniata is 6-4.

Cross country

John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) placed 21st among 354 runners in a personal-best time of 25 minutes, 17 seconds at the 8-kilometer Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh. He was Susquehanna’s top finisher.

Emma Cousins (State College, Bucknell) took 152nd in 23:50 at the Paul Short Invitational.

Nora Adams (State College, Bucknell) was 184th in 18:51.42 at the greater Louisville Cross Country Classic.

Kyle Adams (State College, Bucknell) finished 110th in 26:02 at the Paul Short Invitational.

Eric Heatwole (State College, Bloomsburg) was 50th in 27:20 at the Paul Short Invitational.

Brian Hackman (St. Joseph’s, St. Francis) placed 207th in 27:04 at the Paul Short Invitational.


Alex Hillsley (State College, Delaware) won the 100-yard backstroke (52.89 seconds), 200 backstroke (1:53.62) and 200 individual medley (1:54.88) to help the Blue Hens beat Georgetown 219-73.
