After earning the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Pitcher of the Week award last week, Philipsburg-Osceola graduate Kate Burge had an impressive encore over the weekend.
Burge led the Penn Sate Altoona softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Westminster, with scores of 7-6 and 5-0, to raise Altoona’s record to 9-5.
She was the winning pitcher in both games, getting three strikeouts in the 7-6 win and going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, two runs scored and one driven in. In the nightcap she allowed three hits and had three strikeouts.
For the season she is 6-3 with a 1.63 ERA. In 68 2/3 innings she has given up 59 hits and 20 runs, 16 earned ,while walking 19 and striking out 44. At the plate she is hitting .258 with five runs scored, eight hits, five doubles, a triple and three RBIs.

She was named the Pitcher of the Week after working 11 innings and allowing eight hits, two runs, a walk and striking five while compiling a 1.27 ERA.

Parker Watson (P-O, Lock Haven) is 2-2 with a 2.73 ERA. IN 26 1/3 innings he has allowed 33 hits and 12 runs, eight earned, while waking four and striking out 24. Lock Haven is 13-8.
Mark Curtis (P-O, Shippensburg) has a 7.09 ERA and a 2-4 record. In 33 innings he has allowed 38 hits and 28 runs, 26 earned, while walking 15 and striking out 23.
Caleb Pepperday (P-O, Juniata) has an 0-2 record and a 6.23 ERA in 13 innings. He has allowed 21 hits and 16 runs, nine earned, while walking 12 and striking out eight. Juniata is 6-13.
Kyle Peterson (State College, Millersville) is 2-0 with a 3.48 ERA. In 10 1/3 innings he has given up eight hits and six runs, four earned, walked six and struck out 10. Millersville is 23-2.
Jason Costa (State College, Walters State CC) had two hits in a 23-6 win over Vol State. Walters State is 24-9 and has won eight straight games.
Mike Marcinko (P-O, Shippensburg) is hitting .348 with 26 runs, 31 hits, four doubles, a triple, five homers and nine RBIs. He is also 16 for 18 in stolen base attempts. Shippensburg is 11-15.
Clarissa Keller (Penns Valley, PSU Altoona) has a .412 average with nine runs, 14 hits, two doubles and three RBIs. She is also 6 for 6 in stolen bases.

Tyler Shawver (Penns Valley, Lock Haven) was 16th in the hammer throw with a 134-foot, 3-inch effort and was 24th in the discus with a throw of 102-3 at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna over the weekend.
Maddie Cingle (BEA, Lock Haven) was 12th in the 5,000 meters in 20 minutes, 58.19 seconds at the Jim Taylor meet.
John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) ran a 4:10.13 in the 1,500 at the Jim Taylor meet.
Nora Adams (State College, Bucknell) was seventh in the 1,500 at the Jim Taylor with a clocking of 4:56.04.
Emma Cousins (State College, Bucknell) was 18th in the 1,500 with a time of 5:00.34 at the Jim Taylor.
Kyle Adams (State College, Bucknell) was fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 4:02.51 at the Jim Taylor.
Kylie Orndorff (Penns Valley, Juniata) was busy at the Jim Taylor meet. She was 12th in the discus with a throw of 102-11, 25th in the shot put with a heave of 31-6 1/2 and was 14th in the javelin with a throw of 111-6.
Eric Heatwole (State College, Bloomsburg) ran a 4:05.48 in the 1,500, good for ninth place at the Jim Taylor meet.
Brady Franks (Sate College, Widener) has four goals and three assists. Widener is 1-5.
Olivia Stahl (State College, Savannah College of Art and Design) has 10 goals and 12 assists to help SCAD to an 8-1 record.
