Campus Corner: Orndorff earns 3 top-3 finishes for Juniata track & field

Penns Valley graduate Kylie Orndorff had an impressive day for the Juniata women’s track and field team at the Frostburg Invitational on Saturday.

The freshman won the javelin with a throw of 114 feet, 2 inches, took third in the discus with a throw of 98-5 and third in the shot put with a heave of 31-3 3/4.


Saige Jenco (State College, Virginia Tech) is hitting .333 with 23 runs scored, 30 hits, four doubles, a triple and 12 RBIs. He has also stolen five bases in seven tries. The Hokies are 10-18.

Anthony Montresor (Penns Valley, PSU Altoona) is hitting .111. Altoona is 7-18.

Jared Dailey (State College, PSU Altoona) has a 9.69 ERA and a 2-2 record with one save. In 26 innings he has given up 44 hits and 35 runs, 28 earned, while walking 14 and striking out 21.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg-Osceola, Lock Haven) has a 4.20 ERA and a 2-3 record. In 30 innings he has given up 42 hits and 21 runs, 14 earned, while walking five and striking out 25. Lock Haven is 13-14.

Mark Curtis (P-O, Shippensburg) is 3-4 with a 6.23 ERA. He has allowed 45 hits and 29 runs, 27 earned, while walking 15 and striking out 28 in 39 innings.

Mike Marcinko (P-O, Shippensburg) leads the Raiders is hitting with a .369 average. Among his 40 hits are five doubles, two triples and five homers. He has scored 33 runs and driven in nine. He has been successful in 19 of 21 stolen base attempts. Shippensburg is 14-17.

Caleb Pepperday (P-O, Juniata) owns a 5.40 ERA and an 0-2 record. In 21 2/3 innings he has given up 28 hits and 21 runs, 13 earned, while walking 14 and striking out 11. Juniata is 7-16.

Kyle Peterson (State College, Millersville) is 2-0 with a 3.48 ERA. In 10 1/3 innings he has allowed eight hits and six runs, four earned, walked six and struck out 10. Millersville is 26-3.

Jason Costa (State College, Walters State) has a .361 average with 30 hits, three doubles, a triple and five home runs. He has batted in 19 runs and scored 21. He is sidelined with an injury for the next 3-4 weeks. Walters State is 25-12 and ranked No. 17 in the NJCAA Division I poll.


Clarissa Keller (Penns Valley, PSU Altoona) is second on the team in hitting with a .449 average. She has scored 14 runs and driven in eight. She has 22 hits including four doubles and a homer and is 8 for 9 in stolen base tries. Altoona is 13-5.

Allison Simpson (Bald Eagle Area, PSU Altoona) has a .317 batting average with three runs scored, 13 hits, a double, a triple and eight RBIs.

Ashley Struble (Penns Valley, PSU Altoona) is hitting .288 with four runs scored, 15 hits, a double and a team-high 11 RBIs.

Kate Burge (P-O, PSU Altoona) was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday, pitching a complete game in four Lion wins last week. She has pitched 96 2/3 innings this season and allowed 75 hits and 28 runs, 22 earned, while walking 26 and striking out 59. She is 10-3 with a 1.59 ERA. At the plate she is hitting .279 with six runs scored, 12 hits, five doubles, a triple and a homer with four RBIs.

Haley Giedroc (BEA, PSU Altoona) has a .245 batting average with 10 runs scored, 13 hits, three doubles, a triple, a homer and six RBIs. She is perfect in five stolen base tries.

Chelsey Poorman (BEA, Lycoming) is hitting .341 with 11 runs scored, 15 hits, two doubles, a triple and seven runs driven in. Lycoming is 11-10.

Hannah Cooper (Bellefonte, Central Connecticut State) has a .196 average with seven runs scored, 10 hits, four doubles and a homer and 10 RBIs. Central Connecticut is 10-15-1.

Vanessa Cooper (Bellefonte, UMass-Lowell) is hitting .209 with one run scored and nine hits, one a double. Lowell is 5-26.

Christina Tressler (Bellefonte, Clarion) is second on the team in hitting with a .302 average. She has scored nine runs and driven in 10. Among her 19 hits are four doubles and two homers.

Mackenzie Burge (P-O, St. Francis) has a .235 average with six runs scored, eight hits, two doubles and four RBIs. St. Francis is 21-14.

Allie Baney (State College, Juniata) is hitting .339. She has scored 13 runs and has 20 hits including three doubles and two triples and has driven in seven runs. Juniata is 9-11.

Track & field

John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) won the 1,500 meters in the Millersville Metrics with a time of 4 minutes, 12.94 seconds.

Matt Fuller (Penns Valley, Edinboro) took 10th in the 5,000 at the Slippery Rock Open with a time of 16:15.45.

Carolyn Darr (Penns Valley, Delaware) was on the 4x400 relay team that placed 13th at the Colonial Relays in 3:55.25. She also ran on the 1,600 spring medley relay team that posted a time of 4:13.87, good enough to take 17th place.

Eric Heatwole (State College, Bloomsburg) won the 800 in 1:59.62 and was fourth in the 3,000 in 9:19.51 in a tri-meet with East Stroudsburg and Kutztown. Bloomsburg was third.

Kyle Adams (State College, Bucknell) ran on the 4x800 relay team that took fourth in the Colonial Relays. As a team Bucknell placed third.

Molly Love (State College, North Carolina Wilmington) won the pole vault by clearing 11-6 3/4 in the season opener at High Point.


Brady Franks (State College Widener) has four goals and three assists. Widener is 2-5.

Olivia Stahl (State College, Savannah College of Art and Design) played defense in a 16-4 win against Point (Ga.). SCAD’s record is 9-1.
