Penn State

Eight Nittany Lions ranked

Intermat has released its new individual rankings and eight Nittany Lions are ranked in the top 11, led by freshman Ed Ruth, who is ranked second at 174 for the second straight week.

David Taylor (No. 3, 157), Andrew Long (No. 5, 133), Andrew Alton (No. 5, 141), Frank Molinaro (No. 6, 149), Quentin Wright (No. 7, 184), Cameron Wade (No. 9, heavyweight) and Brad Pataky (No. 11, 125) are also ranked.

This is Pataky's first appearance in the 2010-11 rankings. The sixth-year senior who missed Penn State's first seven meets with a knee injury went 4-0 at last weekend's Virginia Duals.

Wright also returned to the rankings after missing the Ohio State and Lock Haven meets, Southern Scuffle and Virginia Duals with a shoulder injury. Wright is expected to wrestle next Friday against Pitt.

Former State College star and Cornell sophomore Steve Bosak is ranked third at 184.

This week's USA Today/NWCA team rankings haven't been released. Penn State is expected to be ranked second behind Cornell.
