Nine Penn State wrestlers are ranked in the top 33 of their respective weight classes in the NCAA coaches' panel rankings released Thursday. The coaches' panel rankings are one of three elements used to determine NCAA qualifiers for each conference. Winning percentage and RPI are the two other factors.
Penn State's ranked wrestlers include: Brad Pataky (No. 11, 125), Andrew Long (No. 8, 133), Andrew Alton (No. 5, 141), Frank Molinaro (No. 6, 149), David Taylor (No. 2, 157), Jake Kemerer (No. 33, 165), Ed Ruth (No. 2, 174), Quentin Wright (No. 8, 184) and Cameron Wade (No. 7, 285). Kemerer's ranking is important because he can help the Big Ten earn an extra qualifier at 165 by staying in the top 33.
No. 1 Cornell also has nine ranked wrestlers, including State College graduate Steve Bosak, who is No. 3 at 184.
