Things dried out just enough to compile some high school baseball notes.

HOT HITTING: Bald Eagle Area is hitting .373 through five games. Six regulars — Justin Taylor (.625), Tyler Bennett (.533), Kyle Womer (.467), Coleman Hoffman (.462), Logan Reese (.462) and Mike Cowles (.412) — are hitting above .400.

SHAKY FIELDING: Bellefonte's four errors during Friday's 6-5 loss to Indian Valley increased its season total to 12 through five games. The Red Raiders have committed three or more errors in three games but enter this week 3-2.

SCORING OFTEN: State College's Trey Nicosia has an odd stat line. He's scored seven runs in just six at-bats. Nicosia's plate discipline is among the county's best. Teammate Kerry Meyers has three runs in three at-bats.

A BRIGHT SPOT: Penns Valley is 0-3 but Sam Snyder is swinging one of the county's hottest bats. Snyder is 6-for-8 with a double, homer and four RBIs.

BIG WEEKS: If the weather holds, BEA and Bellefonte will play four straight games this week. BEA plays Clearfield, Bellefonte, Central Mountain and Philipsburg-Osceola. Bellefonte plays Philipsburg-Osceola, BEA, Central and Huntingdon.

BEYOND THE COUNTY LINE: Central Mountain (5-0), Lewistown (3-0) and Mount Union (7-0) are off to quick starts. Lewistown visits Central Mountain on Monday. Mount Union, which plays in the Inter-County Conference, receives a big test when it visits Hollidaysburg (5-1) on Monday.
