State College Spikes outfielder Wes Freeman has been added to the National League roster for next Tuesday’s New York-Penn League All-Star Game in Lowell, Mass.
A recent surge has resulted Freeman in hitting .405 with one homer and eight runs in 10 August games. Freeman, a 16th-round draft pick out of high school in 2008, has improved his batting average to .279 with a team-leading six homers. Freeman has raised his average 110 points since July 17.
Freeman will join catcher Samuel Gonzalez in next week’s game. Carlos Mesa also made the NL roster but he will miss the game because of multiple injuries.
