State College's Haffner named to all-state team

State College senior running back Jack Haffner has been selected to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers Class AAAA All-State football team.

Haffner rushed for 2,143 yards and 26 touchdowns on 288 carries to help the Little Lions finish 8-5 and reach the PIAA Class AAAA quarterfinals. Haffner was just the second player in Centre County history to eclipse 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. He rushed for 100 or more yards in 10 of State College’s 13 games.

Tyrone’s Steve Franco and his father, John Franco, received Class AA Coach and Player of the Year honors. The Francos led Tyrone to a 14-2 record and PIAA finals appearance.
