State College, P-O players on PFN teams

State College running back Jack Haffner and kicker Josh Clothiaux earned Pennsylvania Football News First Team Class AAAA all-state honors Wednesday.

Haffner, a senior, led the Little Lions with 2,143 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns on 288 carries. Clothiaux, a senior, converted nine field goals, including last-second ones to push games against Lower Dauphin and University Prep into overtime.

Haffner and Clothiaux helped State College finish 8-5 and reach the PIAA quarterfinals for a fourth straight year.

Philipsburg-Osceola defensive back Mike Marcinko earned second team defensive back honors in Class AA. Marcinko was a key part of a defense that helped P-O finish 9-3 and reach the District 6 Class AA semifinals. Kyle Lanich earned third team Class AA honors. Lanich, a 6-foot-3, 320- pound tackle, helped the Mounties rush for 2,815 yards en route to finishing 9-3.

P-O linebacker Cody Lee, running back Michael John, defensive back Parker Watson  and punter Alex Boumerhi received honorable mention honors.

The PFN selected its all-state teams through online nominations and submissions by head coaches, media and recruiter submissions, and PFN staff observations.
