Huntingdon's Zauzig announces retirement

Another prominent District 6 school is looking for a head football coach.

Huntingdon coach Jim Zauzig has decided to retire, according to the team’s website. Zauzig will inform players of his decision during a team meeting today.

Zauzig, the school’s all-time wins leader, went 113-55 in 15 seasons and led the Bearcats to five District 6 titles. Zauzig coached the Bearcats to the 1998 PIAA western regional final.

Huntingdon joins Altoona and Mifflin County in the search for a head football coach. Tyrone coach John Franco, who led the Golden Eagles to the PIAA Class AA state final, has applied for the Altoona job. Altoona and Mifflin County are Class AAAA programs. Huntingdon is a Class AA school.
