Nittany Lion men’s gymnastics drop Ohio State

The Penn State men’s gymnastics team won five of six events and Trevor Howard earned the all around title as the No. 1 Nittany Lions won their Big Ten opener, dropping No. 5 Ohio State 444.300-432.300 Saturday night at Rec Hall.

Howard won the floor with a 15.400 in a Nittany Lion sweep of the top three spots with Matt Chelberg and Parker Raque. Howard also won the still rings at 15.100 in a sweep with Nestor Rodriguez and Felix Aronovich, and won the parallel bars at 15.350. Howard won the all-around title with an 88.250 total.

Craig Hernandez won his second straight pommel horse title at 15.400, tying Ohio State’s Michael Newburger, and Tristan Duverglas took the vault at 15.150.

Several Nittany Lions will head to Las Vegas later this week for the Winter Cup.
