MINNEAPOLIS Craig Hernandez won an individual title and Trevor Howard captured Big Ten Freshman of the Year to close the Big Ten Championships on Saturday night.
Hernandez won the crown on the pommel horse for the second straight season with a score of 15.475, winning by more than a half point.
Howard ranks among the top-five in the NCAA on the still rings, vault and parallel bars this season to grab the conference honor, the third time a Nittany Lion has claimed the prize. Howard was fourth on the vault, tied for fourth on the floor exercise and was fifth on the rings Saturday night.
Adrian Evans was third on the horse, Preston Gall took fourth and Mackenzie Dow was fifth. Matthew Felleman grabbed a third-place showing on the still rings and was fourth on the high bar, while Felix Aronovich took fifth in the all-around at 84.200.

Michigan won three of the six individual titles and took the team crown on Friday.
Penn State will host the NCAA Championships at Rec Hall from April 19-21.
