Penn State softball: Lions fall short against Hoosiers

Penn State belted a pair of home runs, but a four-run fourth inning proved to be just enough in Indiana’s 4-3 victory over Penn State on Sunday.

Lauren Yao cracked a two-run homer and Cassidy Bell added a solo shot to account for the Nittany Lion runs. Bell also cracked a double.

Marissa Diescher took the loss, giving up four runs, four hits and six walks with two strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings.

Meaghan Murpy pitched four innings for the win, and the Hoosiers’ Amanda Wagner had a two-run double and Michelle Huber added a two-run single in the fourth.

The Nittany Lions (8-23, 1-7 Big Ten) host St. Francis on Tuesday.
