The Penn State men’s golf team posted a final-round 10-over 294 en route to an eighth-place finish as a team at the Gopher Invitational on Monday.
The Nittany Lions completed the three rounds at 23-over 875 at the 7,152-yard Windsong Farm Golf Club. New Mexico won Minnesota’s 16-team tournament at 4-under 848. Kent State’s Corey Connors picked up medalist honors with his 7-under 206 total, including a 5-under 66 in the second round.
JD Dornes tied for 10th to lead Penn State with a 2-over 73 final round and a 1-over 214 total. Xander McDonald-Smith tied for 19th at 218 after posting an even-par 71 Monday.
They were followed by Chris Houston (tie-30, 221), Jens Talbert (tie-35, 222) and Geoff Vartelas (60th, 236).

The Nittany Lions are back on the golf course at Michigan on Sept. 16-17 for the Wolverine Intercollegiate.
