Penn State softball: Nittany Lions drop Aggie Classic finale

Penn State’s bats went silent in the final game of the Aggie Classic as the Nittany Lions fell 2-1 against Eastern Michigan on Sunday.

Penn State (6-4) wasted another sterling relief effort by Marlaina Laubach, who was a walk from firing 52/3 innings of hitless softball. Laubach struck out seven.

Eastern Michigan struck for two runs on three hits in the top of the first against freshman Jessica Cummings (1-2).

The Nittany Lions managed just three hits and an unearned run against Eastern Michigan’s Lindsay Rich (1-4). Rich struck out three and did not allow a walk.

Macy Jones, pinch-hitter Meghan Bradley and Reina Furuya each had a single for Penn State, which went 3-2 in the event.

The Nittany Lions travel to Mississippi State for a three-game series, starting Saturday.
