Penn State mounted a rally in the top of the seventh inning but fell short in an 8-6 loss to Maryland on Friday.
The Terrapins (24-19, 6-7 Big Ten) took control with a five-run fourth inning, powered by Lindsey Schmeiser’s two-run home run, Erin Pronobis’ RBI doube and Shannon Bustillos’ two-run double.
Dowm 8-3, Penn State (23-21, 6-9) rallied in the seventh with a two-out RBI single from Mollie Sorenson and a two-run double by Macy Jones. Jones also had an RBI double in the first.
Both teams pounded out 10 hits, with Marlaina Laubach taking the loss and Kaitlyn Schmeiser earning the win.
