Penn State softball: Maryland tops Nittany Lions with walk off home run

Penn State gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to drop a 7-6 close call to Maryland on Saturday.

Maryland used a sacrifice hit by Erin Pronobis to get within one run. Shannon Bustillos followed Pronobis’ at-bat with a two-run home run to left field to earn the walk off win for the Terrapins.

The Nittany Lions held a 6-4 lead going into the bottom half of the inning but things came apart.

Alyssa VanDerveer had a grand slam in the first inning to jump start things for Penn State. Mollie Sorenson led the Nittany Lions with three hits.
