Penn State softball: Nittany Lions blank Pittsburgh

Penn State posted its fourth shutout win of the season, and earned its fifth straight victory, by dropping Pittsburgh 2-0 Tuesday.

Jessica Cummings and Larlaina Laubach combined on the three-hit shutout, with Laubach earning the win.

Scoreless into the top of the seventh inning, Lexi Knief led off the frame with a triple to the left field corner, scoring on Mollie Sorenson’s single. Sorenson later scored on Alyssa VanDerveer’s single. VanDerveer and Knief each had a pair of hits.

Penn State (28-24) closes the regular season with a visit to No. 4 Michigan this weekend for a three-game series.
