Incoming Penn State freshman Toni Polk was named Gatorade State Softball Player of the Year in New York on Thursday.
Polk, a shortstop, helped Niagara Falls High School to a 12-3 record and a berth in the Section VI tournament while batting .532 with 12 RBIs and scoring 16 runs.
Polk is part of a recruiting class that also includes Tori Dubois (Nashua, N.H.), Lexi Lotito (Canyon Country, Calif.), Maddie Seifert (Chesterfield, Mo.), Maddie Shaffer (New Castle, Pa.) and Meghan Williams (Bethlehem).
