Penn State men’s tennis: Laaribi advances to quarterfinals

Penn State had mixed results at the ITA Regional Championships on Sunday. The Nittany Lions ended doubles play with two teams losing in the quarterfinals, but senior Aws Laaribi advanced to Monday’s singles quarterfinals.

Laaribi was the only Penn State singles competitor to advance, defeating Virginia’s Harrison Richmond and Bucknell’s Nick Bybel on Sunday. He will play Virginia’s Henrik Wiersholm on Monday.

Laaribi wasn’t as fortunate in doubles play, as he and freshman Ben Lieb fell, 8-3, to Virginia Tech’s pairing of Amerigo Contini and Edoardo Tessaro.

Penn State’s other pairing, Tomas Hanzlik and Zach Lieb, lost to Old Dominion’s Adam Moundir and Aziz Kijametovic, 8-1.
