Nittany Lions sign three gymnasts to team

From CDT staff reports

Penn State men’s gymnastics team signed Stephen Nedoroscik, Favian Valdez, and Sam Zakutney on Friday as recruits for the 2016-17 season.

Nedoroscik comes from Worcester, Michigan where he earned a gold medal at the state, regional and national level on the pommel horse in the 2015 season.

Valdez, a five-time Junior Olympic Qualifier, is a premier all-around competitor. He won four state titles and was the youngest national competitor when he competed as a level nine gymnast at the Junior National Championships.

Zakutney comes to Penn State after competing for the Canadian National Team where he was a four-time Elite Canada all-around champion and three-time-all-around national champion.

“We are very pleased to announce the signing of three outstanding talents,” said head coach Randy Jepson. “These individuals will step in and make an immediate impact on our team and assist us in our goal of garnering Big Ten Conference and NCAA Titles.”
