Penn State had several individuals compete at the NCAA Championships, including a fine finish by Casey Francis, on Friday at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center.
Francis placed higher than any other Nittany Lion on the day, finishing 14th in the 1650 freestyle, posting a time of 16:05.37.
Teammate Katelyn Sowinski took part in the same event, placing 43rd with a time of 16:19.56.
Sowinski also competed in the 200 butterfly, taking 42nd in the preliminaries with a 1:57.57 mark. Joining her in the 200 butterfly was Katie Rowe, who took 27th with a time of 1:56.23.
In the 100 freestyle prelims, Alyson Ackman (32nd, 48.57) and Kaitlin Jones (60th, 49.44) represented Penn State, while Melissa Rodriguez (20th, 2:08.83) showed well in the 200 breaststroke.
As a team, Penn State was 16th in the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:15.88 mark.
